Happy Holidays folks!

Just a quick note about pruning boxwood. People ask if they can prune boxwood now, for their holiday décor.

The answer is a resounding YES! It should be a light pruning, however, saving the heavy thinning or reduction pruning for after the middle of February.

Extreme cold can affect freshly pruned boxwood, so hold off on any severe pruning until later. For the holidays, let’s just take what we need from different areas of the plant so as not to open too much of the plant’s interior to the cold.

For now, enjoy the holidays, friends and family, and of course, your winter garden!!
